Coming April 2010: DollyTrax 2.0
After much customer feedback, here's the exciting new changes being implemented into DollyTrax 2.0, available in April.
Smoother: The most critical new feature addition is the foam cushion tire covers. It's a 1/2" thick circle of foam that slips over the tires and provide drastic shock absorption for imperfect ground conditions. We realized we needed these because so many shooters are using lightweight DSLR cameras with no optical image stabilization. Getting smooth footage on concrete, tile, and asphalt was much more of a challenge now. The new cushions provide a 1/2" of specialized foam that conforms to ground imperfections, yet won't collapse or flatten under weight.
Smaller: The larger size of the original DollyTrax was to help with vibration and shock absorption. With the new tire cushions, this larger size is not needed and is being reduced by about 4" in length and width. It will now be considered an official "doorway dolly."
Stronger: The smaller size helps make the swing-out extension bar more rigid and stiff. We upgraded materials and suppliers so it can now withstand loads up to 1000lbs. The recommended weight is still 300lbs, as this is mostly to demonstrate the strength and durability of the dolly.
